Great Meeting in Savannah!

By Ira Walton, Sr.

As the moderator of the Brothers of Cyrene and having attended several national meetings in the past, the Savannah meeting was different. There is no denying that a fresh gentle breeze is beginning to stir across our fellowship. If you attended the meeting in Savannah, hosted by Pastor Herb Hubbard and the members of Bible Baptist Church, the spirit and cooperation of that meeting revealed to me what I believe to be one of the most excellent meetings I ever attended.

The passion, spirit, testimonies, music, and preaching were genuine and compelling. I have never seen or been close to what I would consider an authentic revival, nevertheless, what my soul experienced was refreshing and powerful. Was it the dawning of a new day, a spark, or a sign from God that revival is near? Truthfully, I don’t know, however, something happened and I thank God that I was in attendance.

The Brothers of Cyrene are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. We are excited, eager, and ready to see local Bible study groups develop into bible-believing churches in our inner city neighborhoods and communities across America. Our hearts desire is to partner with the fellowship in an effort to reach approximately 42 million African Americans for Christ.

I am convinced that all the laborers that are needed are within our fellowship. If there’s one thing the Marines taught me in my twenty years of service to my country it is this; if you don’t try then you have already been defeated. David summed it up this way in 1 Samuel 17:29 “Is there not a cause?” Please enlist today and let’s carry out this great command of God together.

NEWS FROM TRINITY VILLAGE BAPTIST CHURCH IN EASTMAN GEORGIA

By: Pastor Victor Baxter

Our first month in Eastman has been very exciting and productive. We arrived in Eastman on July 3 on which the same night I led my little nephew to the Lord. L.J. Battle. This month we’ve seen 9 other souls trust Christ as Savior. PRAISE THE LORD!!! We have also starting a nursing home ministry at the Heart of Georgia Nursing Home. We meet every Saturday at 10AM. The nursing home has really adopted me as their new Chaplain since the previous Chaplain passed away recently. It has been a blessing for me and my family. The first week we had 10 in attendance and the second week 12. We have also started a Tuesday night Bible Study. So far we have averaged about 8 people including my family, but none of the people we’ve won to Christ have attended. Please pray that they would start attending as we continue to follow-up with them. Gospel Lighthouse Baptist church, another Independent Baptist Church in Eastman, has really been a blessing. We have been fellowshipping with them on Sundays and during the mid-week services. Pastor Chad Kennison has really been helpful. He has given us 10 leads that they witnessed to recently. I have followed up with some of them who said they would start attending our Bible Study.

The work on the building is coming along great as well. We have completed the sanctuary, except for the accessories like curtains, and valences for the windows. The fellowship hall/classroom is also complete. We still have one room to renovate but we will work slow on that room. We moved our big campaign leading to our youth rally up one week to the week of August 16th – 21st. Park Crest Baptist Church will be bringing a team from Springfield MO down that week as well as Living Water Baptist Church. Everyone should start arriving on Wednesday of the the week. We will be canvassing the area Wednesday, Thursday and Friday ending with the youth rally on Saturday. Pray that Wal-Mart agrees to donate some school supplies for the kids. That Sunday we will hold a service in our sanctuary for those from Park Crest and those in the community who chooses to attend. Our official launch date is still October 10th.

We have received so many blessings since we’ve been here. God has truly been moving in our hearts and the hearts of the people here. Keep our job situation in prayer. The job at the youth detention camp that I was slated to start fell through because the economy forced them not to fill the position. My wife has interviewed in Macon GA for nursing position and she has other interviews scheduled for this Friday and next Monday. Please pray that God’s will be done because September is going to be a busy month of traveling for us. We have the GA State Fellowship, a mission conference at Battlefield Baptist in Virginia, and the National Fellowship in Chicago where we will be officially recognized as BBF NCPO Church Planters. Pray that we gain much needed monthly support. Also pray that God continue to supply all our needs with the both of us not working right now. Be prayerful as well about getting some hymn books. The kids are doing great and are scheduled to start school on August 30th in the public school system. Surprisingly enough, there is no Christian or any private school in Eastman or Dodge County. That may be something we can work toward in the far future of Trinity Village Baptist Temple.

I thank you for your support and your prayers. We are determined to see as many souls saved and discipled as possible in Eastman and Dodge County. It is my vision that Trinity Village Baptist Temple be a place where future Pastors, Evangelists, Missionaries, and Church Planters are sent out in all the world to carry out the Lord’s Great Commission. I understand the economy is tight, but please pray about supporting our ministry financially on a monthly basis. I really believe that Eastman is good ground to plant seeds. We are currently praying that 40 churches will sow a $100 monthly commitment for 3 years into our ministry. Of course if that is not possible any thing you can commit would be appreciated. Just remember that it would be fruit to your account in heaven. Please, continue to pray for us. WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS.

Trinity Village Baptist Temple Update

By: Pastor Victor Baxter

I just wanted to give you an update on our ministry. Last week we had a huge canvassing campaign which ended with a back to school rally in which we gave out free food and school supplies. We also had lots of games. We had 13 people who came down from Park Crest Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. We also had Brothers of Cyrene Pastor James Richardson, his wife Cathy, and Bro. Eligah Moore who came up from Mobile, AL. Evangelist Marvin Del Collins came up from Valdosta. We had our first church service that Sunday where we had 32 in attendance with 5 professions of faith in Christ. We had approximately 130 people show up at the Youth Rally. The week of canvassing, the Youth Rally, and the church service resulted in 21 professions of faith in Christ. Since our arrival on the 3rd of July, we have had the privilege of seeing over 35 professions of faith.

Our official launch is still October 10th, but we will continue having a morning service until that time. Keep us in your prayers. God is doing something awesome down here. Latest statistics show that Dodge County, GA has a population of 22,000 and 16,000 are unchurched. The field is ready to be harvested.
