I was born in Silas, Alabama March 30, 1964. I attended school in Silas and Prichard Alabama, and graduated in 1982 from Sothern Choctaw High School in Silas Alabama.
In 1983, I moved to Pascagoula, Mississippi, and was hired as an apprentice at Ingalls Shipbuilding and was later promoted to a quality Inspector. I was employed there for 18 years.
In 1987 I married my wife, Letha Mitchell, and we have been married for 22 years and are blessed to have seven children and five grandchildren.
I received Jesus Christ as my Savior on March 25, 1990, at Jesus Christ Baptist Church in Ocean Spring, Mississippi.
In 1991 the Lord called me to the Ministry of Jesus Christ. During this time I continued my education at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Berea Bible Institute.
In 1994, I served as associate Pastor at Saint Peters Baptist Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi, where God moved on my heart to start an Independent Baptist Church in the East Pascagoula area.
In 1995, the Bible Study Baptist Church was started and while at a Baptist Bible fellowship meeting we met Randy Farwell, Pastor of The Lighthouse Baptist Church of Biloxi, Mississippi, and he helped us to organize Bible Study Baptist Church as an Independent Baptist Church.
For the past 14 years Bible Study Baptist Church has been reaching the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and seeing souls saved, settled, and serving our Lord.
Making a difference in South Mississippi.

I was born in the hills of Mississippi and was drafted into the military shortly after high school. I served in the United States Air Force for 26 years with tours of duty in Vietnam, Thailand, Spain, Germany, and many stateside locations. I was saved in 1982 at Grace Independent Baptist Church while serving at Hahn Air Base, Germany, under the ministry of BIMI Missionary Pastor Bob Fuller. My wife and two daughters were saved shortly thereafter.
My ministry experience includes bus ministry director, adult choir director, Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader, choir member, finance committee member, soul winning director, Christian school teacher, Church and Chapel speaker, and Christian School administrator.
In July of 2000, my wife and I attended a Conference on Evangelizing Black America (COEBA), hosted by Crossroads Baptist Church in Bailey’s Crossroads, Virginia. God used the great preaching, as well as the emphasis on planting fundamental, independent Baptist churches in the inner cities, to burden my heart to reach those who grew up like me. I told the Lord in that conference I would do whatever He wanted me to do to help reach those who grew up like me.
In January 2003, I surrendered to preach and to be a USA Missionary Church Planter in Jackson, MS. Working with and through Baptist International Missions, Inc., and being ordained and sent out by Calvary Baptist Church, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, my wife and I went out on deputation to raise support.
We arrived in Jackson in February 2005. The Lord provided a place to live and soon provided a building we could use for a church. After some needed renovations, soul winning, and prayer, Grace and Mercy Baptist Church held its first service in November 2005 with 30 souls in attendance. We are currently renting our church building and are looking for a more permanent location.
I am a graduate of Troy State University, Troy, Alabama; Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola, Florida; and Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camilla, Georgia.
Heb 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Living Water Baptist Church

Mobile, AL 36608
Mobile, Alabama. I moved my family back to Mobile after retiring from the military in Fairbanks, Alaska, at the direction of the Lord. My heartfelt desire and burden is to reach the lost people in the Mobile area. Mobile County is the main seaport for the state of Alabama. Mobile’s population is about 400,843 with a 46% African American population of which most have not heard a clear presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I was saved in 1982, while stationed in West Germany. The Lord has done a tremendous work for me and my family since that time. I am an independent, Bible believing, fundamental Baptist. I accepted the Lord’s calling on my life to preach the gospel in Saudi Arabia during 1990 Desert Storm after leading many of my fellow soldiers to the Lord. The Lord began at this time to work in my heart about starting a new work in my hometown of Mobile.
We returned home in 2000 and placed ourselves under the authority and accountability of the First Independent Baptist Church, with the assistance of Pastor Marc Leverett. I was licensed by the church to start an outreach ministry (Living Water for Life Ministry) with the goal of church planting. I began a Tuesday night Bible Study in our home. We saw several adults come to know Christ as savior. I soon realized that in order for me to start and establish a church, I would need a permanent location and building for a Living Water Baptist Church. After carefully searching for a building, with much prayer and the assistance of Pastor Leverett, we located property with an old existing church building needing much repair. The asking price was $50,000 and we estimated an additional $20,000 for renovations. Such a building would enable us to have 100 in attendance easily.
AL/NWF BBF was an answer to our prayers, being a fellowship with a heart for church planting. The Lord used the state BBF to help us purchase and renovate the building. Our first service was held in January 2002. Since that time Living Water Baptist Church has grown with the help of the Lord. We have seen over a hunderd souls saved and many follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. We have ordained two of our men from the pews as preachers. We currently support over twenty missionaries with monthly support. We average about fifty in attendence during Sunday services. May the Lord bless you and your church.
John 4:14 “A well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
